Elissa Aldous-Hughes
Hello, I'm Elissa
I am an experienced genealogist & family tree designer, specialising in British research and custom trees. I've been researching family histories for over 16 years, and since starting my business in 2016 I have helped hundreds of clients to discover their family stories and commemorate their ancestors.

My family trees and genealogical research have been published in a number of social history books and personal memoirs, and I have also had the pleasure of contributing towards an episode of the BBC series Who Do You Think You Are?. Some of my most memorable projects have included discovering a client’s connection to a suspected Edwardian murderer, researching heart-breaking poverty in nineteenth-century Plymouth, investigating a mysterious Canadian skeleton believed to belong to a treasure hunter, and helping four adoptees answer lifelong questions about their birth families.
Alongside my work in genealogy, I am a trained book editor specialising in line editing. Together with my colleague Pam Fox, I offer book production services, including editing, typesetting and layout design, helping authors transform their manuscripts into beautiful printed books.
